Smart Tips for Moving

Before you move

- For long haul moves make sure you label all of your cartons with your name, destination city and contact phone number.

- Place all packed boxes against the wall away from your furniture, so as not to obstruct access for your movers.

- With regard to insurance, we have, at no cost to the client, a basic standard liability insurance that pays out at 60 per lb, we also have, on request, a total loss insurance;
this insurance pays out should the entire shipment be lost and is calculated on a declared value. Should you require any other kind of coverage, please contact your insurance agent.

- Keep a copy of your moving invoice, as most moves are tax deductible

- On long haul moves, ensure to check the accuracy of the inventory taken and the condition of each article at the time of loading.

- It is not necessary to empty dresser drawers of clothes, but remove liquids, breakables, books, valuables, etc.

- All drawers that open like cupboards should be emptied. In special cases where you
have difficult access or the dresser is very heavy, all drawers should be completely emptied.

Have Vega Line pack and unpack for you, for added convenience and valuation coverage.

Packing Tips

If you wish to do packing yourself, you will need boxes to pack your items in. We have outlined a list of box types and guidelines for you as follows:

Wardrobe Boxes:
Hanging clothes can be put directly into these containers and will travel hanging. Easy to put away when you get to your new place.

Mirror / Picture Boxes:
These boxes are specifically designed to protect mirrors, paintings and framed art or pictures.

Dish Packs:
These are larger, stronger boxes built to protect fragile items and glassware. Each dish pack will hold approximately 3 services for 12.

Large Box:
These are for lightweight, bulky items such as linens, clothes, towels or TV, microwave and computers.

Medium Box
: For pots, pans, kitchen utensils or stereo equipment, shoes, toys and small appliances.

Small Box:
For heavy items, like books, records and tools.

Mattress Covers
: This is a heavy plastic cover to protect your box springs and mattress.
Use only strong, corrugated cartons with covers. We can supply you with specially made cartons, for everything from mattresses to clothing and mirrors. The added protection of mover-provided cartons may avoid damage that results from the use of poor-quality
packing materials.

Your alternative is to collect boxes discarded by your grocery or liquor store. Save old newspapers for use in packing, but remember that ink may rub off and stain clothing or other items.
